What changed
Denver Broncos beat the Los Angeles Rams 30-26 after trailing 16-0, while the Washington Commanders stunned the defending champion Seattle Seahawks 33-31.
Denver’s Talanoa Hufanga made two interceptions, including a 66-yard touchdown return. Washington ended Seattle’s 12-game winning streak after Kain Medrano returned an interception 50 yards for a score.
Why it matters
Denver’s win turned a lost-looking game into a statement finish. The Rams led comfortably at halftime, but the final five minutes produced three lead changes. Matt Stafford put Los Angeles back ahead with a 48-yard touchdown pass, Bo Nix answered with a touchdown run, and Hufanga sealed it by intercepting Stafford in the end zone with two seconds left.
Washington’s result was even more disruptive. Seattle had carried its winning run through last season’s Super Bowl victory, but two interceptions helped the Commanders overturn a 24-10 lead and survive a frantic fourth quarter. Jayden Daniels could return within three weeks, giving Washington a possible boost after Marcus Mariota guided the upset.
The wider pattern was just as striking: 12 of 14 games were decided by eight points or fewer, tying the NFL record for one-score games in a single day. The league also staged its first game in Rio de Janeiro, where Baltimore played Dallas.
