Fifa has asked the Southern District of Florida to reject Uefa’s request for documents about the shelved Fifa Forward Enterprise scheme.
Fifa says Uefa’s court filing contains “false or misleading statements” and amounts to a “misinformation campaign” aimed at influencing Gianni Infantino’s presidential race. Uefa has accused Infantino of criminal mismanagement and promoting an improperly priced plan for personal benefit. Fifa denies those claims.
Why it matters
This is now a legal fight over the paper trail behind a plan that would have sold stakes in the World Cup and other Fifa competitions to private investors.
Uefa filed for disclosure last month and warned it could make a criminal complaint in Switzerland. Fifa is refusing to release the FFE evidence and calls Uefa’s application excessively broad. That leaves the court with a direct question: should Uefa get access to the documents before deciding what further action to take?
The dispute also lands as Infantino seeks a fourth term in March 2027. Three confederations are reported to be calling for him to stand down, while potential opponents have until 18 November to find an alternative candidate.
The immediate outlook is uncertain because the court has not yet decided whether to order disclosure. If it does, the FFE documents could become central to the battle over Infantino’s leadership.
