What changed
Nico O’Reilly will miss England’s Nations League match against the Czech Republic in Prague on Tuesday night. Ezri Konsa is expected to be in the squad, while Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha has been called up to replace O’Reilly.
Why it matters
England lose one player who started the full 90 minutes against Spain, but the absence also opens the door for Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall to push for a starting place at left-back. O’Reilly’s mistake helped Spain level at 2-2 in that 3-2 defeat, though one error does not decide his value to the squad.
Konsa’s situation is less certain. He and O’Reilly both missed Monday training while following individual programmes, but Konsa is expected to travel in the squad. If he cannot play, Jarrad Branthwaite is a possible option after appearing late against Spain.
The wider problem is workload. England face four matches in 11 days, including games against the Czech Republic and Croatia, with extensive travel and little recovery time. That makes squad rotation more than a tactical detail: it may shape how much risk Thomas Tuchel is willing to take with players returning from a demanding match against Spain.
