What changed
Clucky has launched an iPhone alarm app that requires users to complete a mission before dismissing an alarm. Its selectable sounds include a crowing rooster, gentle chimes, peaceful birds and digital beeping, while Extra Loud Mode raises the volume when an alarm goes off. TechCrunch reported the app is available on the App Store and offers a pro subscription for $39.99 a year.
Wake-up missions include math problems, memory-tile challenges, typing prompts, shaking or walking with the phone, push-ups, a ball-tilting game and an AI camera challenge. Clucky also records alarm and mission statistics, issues a weekly “Rooster Report,” and lets users form private “Nest” or “Flock” groups to wake at the same time and hold one another accountable. The company was founded by Adrian Angelo Abelarde, a former Fanatics software engineer.
Why it matters
Clucky enters an existing category of mission-based alarm apps that includes Alarmy and Awake. Its approach adds friction to turning off an alarm and returning to sleep, while offering both individual challenges and shared wake-up groups. TechCrunch reported that users can choose less disruptive sounds if they do not want the rooster option.
Impact assessment
For iPhone users who routinely snooze alarms, Clucky provides an immediate alternative that can make an alarm harder to dismiss, but requires a more demanding wake-up routine.
For Clucky, App Store availability and the $39.99 annual pro tier create a path to acquire and charge users. The report does not provide figures for the app’s user base, revenue, retention or subscription conversion, so the commercial outcome remains unreported.
