Google gives its Arts & Culture app a redesign.

What changed

Google has redesigned its Arts & Culture app with an updated homepage and natural-language AI search. Users can now ask questions in ordinary language, try historical clothing virtually with Chrono Look, and chat with AI recreations of historical artists through Dial an Artist.

Why it matters

This shifts Arts & Culture from a catalogue you browse into a guide you can question. Instead of starting with a painting, museum or artist, users can begin with a curiosity and let the app shape the route.

The two experiments show Google testing different kinds of AI interaction. Chrono Look turns cultural history into something visual and participatory. Dial an Artist turns it into conversation, though the chatbot is an interpretation of a historical figure rather than that person speaking.

That distinction matters. The redesign could make art and history easier to explore, but its usefulness will depend on the quality and limits of the answers, imagery and artist models. The current details do not establish how broad the coverage is or where the features are available.
