What changed
A 25-year-old UK-Iranian dual national arrested in Westminster on Thursday over the RAF Fairford incident has been released on bail. Police have also finished searches of two properties linked to the arrest.
Five other men, all UK nationals from London and aged 23 to 25, were previously released on police bail. The investigation continues.
Why it matters
The arrests began after three suspicious vehicles were reported near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire last weekend. Police declared a major incident and evacuated dozens of homes while investigating vehicles said to be travelling towards the US Air Force base.
The latest release means every person arrested in connection with the incident is now on bail rather than in custody. That is a legal and investigative decision, not a finding that nothing serious happened.
The case carries added diplomatic weight because RAF Fairford has supported US bomber operations in the Middle East. Prime Minister Andy Burnham said there were strong indications Iran had played a part, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a foreign actor was clearly involved. Neither gave public evidence in the account, and Iran has categorically denied involvement.
The next meaningful development will be whether police announce charges or provide a clearer explanation of what happened around the base. Until then, the incident remains serious, but responsibility has not been publicly established.
