What changed
An EU–Tanzania roadshow opened in Helsinki on 29 September with investment pitches focused on Tanzania’s critical minerals and digital economy. The EU announced a €156 million package, while Finnish financiers Finnvera and Finnfund said they were open to Tanzanian deals.
Why it matters
The announcement gives Tanzania two potential channels for investment: European public backing and Finnish finance. That could help move interest in minerals and digital infrastructure toward actual deals, but no projects, contracts, disbursement schedule or Tanzanian financing approvals have yet been reported.
The next test is whether the €156 million becomes identifiable funding for specific work, and how much reaches minerals versus digital projects. Until then, this is a serious investment signal, not money already on the ground.
