Nairobi-based KikoRomeo will present its Ewala Spring/Summer 2024 collection at Moscow Fashion Week on October 1, 2026.
The showcase, held with Nairobi Fashion Week at Moscow’s Central Exhibition Hall Manege, puts the Kenyan heritage fashion house on the event’s official calendar. Ann McCreath and her daughter, Iona McCreath, will lead the presentation.
Why it matters
This is a public test of how far Kenyan design can travel without leaving its roots behind. KikoRomeo’s collection combines contemporary silhouettes with rainfed organic cotton, handloom textiles, art fabrics, zero-waste construction and hand-carved coconut-shell buttons.
Its subject is equally grounded: how adornment shapes identity and belonging. That gives the Moscow appearance more substance than a simple runway export. The house, founded in Nairobi in 1996, is carrying a specific design language into an international programme rather than presenting “African fashion” as one undifferentiated category.
The immediate gain is visibility for KikoRomeo and the Nairobi fashion ecosystem. Whether the appearance leads to orders, sales or distribution agreements remains unknown, so its clearest value for now is the platform itself: a Kenyan label receiving a formal place on a global fashion-week calendar.
