What changed
Serengeti Breweries Limited and KUNTA Africa are restarting Nyota Bigi for a second season. The search now spans four Tanzanian cities (Dar Es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha and Dodoma) instead of the single region of last year. Auditions open October 3 in the capital, followed by October 10 in Mwanza, October 17 in Arusha and October 24 in Dodoma. Contestants, aged 18‑30, must show a brief video, have valid ID and hope to be among 24 who advance to bootcamp. The program promises a runway into influencing, modelling and the broader entertainment industry, backed by television, radio, internet and on‑ground events under the “Lite Your Imagination” banner. Henry Esiaba, Serengeti’s Director of Marketing, and Rhona Namanya, Head of Beer and Ready‑to‑Drink, stressed that the brand is expanding to “bigger and better” regions and will give creative talent a stage and a shot at lasting careers.
Why it matters
The return of Nyota Bigi means Serengeti Lite’s marketing footprint spreads into northern and central Tanzania, drawing media coverage and audience engagement in four new markets. As the competition plays out, fans on social media will mention audition dates and share videos, while local press will highlight winners, creating a buzz that can translate into on‑sale interest for Serengeti products. More exposure for participants also opens doors for the local creative economy: scouts and talent agencies will mingle with fresh talent, potentially fast‑tracking careers in music, acting and comedy. The initiative could spark a ripple effect, encouraging other brands to use talent shows as a bridge to the creative sector. Yet the long‑term payoff for contestants remains uncertain; it will depend on how well the industry picks up the graduates and whether the buzz sustains beyond the televised finale.
