Tanzania’s Epanko Graphite Project Could Lift Planned Output 20%

What changed

EcoGraf’s Epanko graphite project in Tanzania could raise Stage 1 output by 20%, from the current feasibility-study basis of 73,000 tonnes a year to 87,600 tonnes. A Value Engineering Review also identifies potential operating-cost savings of up to 6.8%.

Why it matters

That would give Epanko more production capacity and a lower potential cost base on paper. The important phrase is “on paper”: 73,000 tonnes per year remains the project’s current planning basis, and the higher output and savings have not yet become operating results.

The review improves the project’s economics, but it does not settle whether the revised figures will enter an approved plan or whether financing, construction and production will proceed on schedule. For now, Epanko has a more attractive technical case, not a finished mine.
