What changed
TCB Bank is preparing to list on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange as Tanzania’s government targets listings for up to five state-owned companies by the end of the 2026/27 financial year.
The move places TCB inside a wider effort to bring state-owned businesses into the capital market. STAMIGOLD could also be among the next companies to list, but that has not been confirmed.
Why it matters
This is more than one bank preparing paperwork. Tanzania is setting the stock exchange a deadline and giving investors a possible pipeline of state-owned companies rather than a single listing to watch.
For TCB, a listing would shift part of the bank’s ownership into the public market. For the government, the programme would make the DSE a tool for changing how state companies raise capital and are held by investors.
The practical details are still open: no listing date, offering size or final company list has been confirmed. The next meaningful signal will be whether TCB turns its preparation into a formal timetable, and whether the government identifies the other companies it intends to bring to market.
