What changed
The Beibu Gulf Port’s Qinzhou terminal sent 2,727 Chinese vehicles directly to Oman’s Duqm Port on October 8 aboard the Changrongkou, setting the port’s single-voyage record for roll-on/roll-off vehicle exports. The voyage takes about 15 days, with no transfer en route, creating a direct shipping link from southern China to the Middle East.
Why it matters
The important shift is logistical. Vehicles from a Chongqing factory can travel by rail to Qinzhou, undergo inspection and loading there, then continue by ship in one connected chain. That trims handoffs and makes the port more useful to exporters beyond Guangxi, including manufacturers in Fujian, Anhui, Zhejiang and northeastern China.
This is not yet proof of how many cars will be sold in the region or whether sailings will become more frequent. But the route is already scheduled monthly, and the port has completed 10 roll-on/roll-off voyages carrying more than 11,000 vehicles and construction machines through September. The record voyage shows a route moving from trial scale toward regular infrastructure.
