What changed
China Eastern Airlines has formally reported passenger O某某 to police over an incident on flight MU6741 from Hefei to Dalian on September 28. The airline says it has completed evidence preservation, fact-checking and legal assessment, and has suspended its carriage service for the passenger.
Why it matters
The dispute began when a meal trolley accidentally touched the elbow of a sleeping passenger. China Eastern says the flight attendant repeatedly apologized and checked on the passenger, who then used abusive language, threatened to kick the attendant and demanded to be accompanied for medical care after landing.
The airline is now treating the episode as more than a customer-service complaint: it says the passenger’s conduct may have disrupted cabin order and infringed the employee’s dignity and work rights. That shifts the matter from an onboard argument into a police investigation, where the outcome and any legal finding remain unknown.
China Eastern says the attendant received psychological support and has returned to normal work. The passenger’s suspension remains in force, though the airline has not stated how long it will last or exactly how broad it is.
