Guangdong-Hong-Kong-Macao Forum Launches Deep-Sea Cooperation Mechanism

The 2026 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Forum on Marine Cooperation and Development was held in Guangzhou on September 11, hosted by the Guangzhou municipal government and Guangdong’s Department of Natural Resources (Guangdong Oceanic Administration). The forum launched a multi-party cooperation mechanism for deep-sea exploration, bringing together government, industry, universities and financial institutions. Speakers focused on seabed resource identification, target-area assessment, intelligent sampling and environmental sensing, as well as the use of marine spatial information infrastructure in industrial development and ecological governance.

Four parallel sessions covered shipbuilding and marine engineering, marine technology services, marine city culture and deep-sea industries.
