What changed
A Madrid event on 6 October presented the Spanish edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, Volume V to more than 60 representatives from Chinese and Spanish government, academic and media circles. Under the theme “Civilizational dialogue empowering common progress,” participants discussed China-Spain cooperation, including trade, environmental protection, digital affairs, culture, local ties and youth exchanges.
Why it matters
The event put a political text into a cross-border conversation, rather than leaving it as a publication launch. Spanish readers were offered a window into how China describes its development and modernization, while the discussion linked that framing to practical areas where China and Spain could work together.
That makes the next step more important than the ceremony itself. Participants said shared understanding should become action, but no agreement, funding commitment or policy decision was reported. For now, the clearest outcome is a channel for continued dialogue, reinforced by the Chinese side giving Spanish guests copies of the book.
