Kelly Clarkson said AI-created artists should not compete with human artists on the same music charts, while making clear that she supports broader creative and scientific uses of the technology.

During an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, Clarkson proposed separate charts for AI and human music. She said AI could help people create music they otherwise might not be able to make, but argued that the two should not be ranked together.

Clarkson compared mixed competition to an Olympics where robots compete against humans, saying the outcome would be inherently unequal. She also said AI “is not going anywhere” and that audiences may have an appetite for both AI-assisted and human-made work.

No chart operator, label, platform or regulator has been reported as adopting her proposal. The comments also leave open how the industry would distinguish AI-created artists from human artists who use AI-assisted tools.
