What changed
Photographs by Nigerian photographer Bolaji Alonge are featured on a new vinyl release of Fela Kuti’s “Zombie.” The release brings Alonge’s images, made through his long-running Eyes of a Lagos Boy project documenting Lagos and Nigerian culture, into the record’s physical presentation.
Why it matters
This gives Alonge’s work a place alongside one of Nigeria’s most recognisable musical titles. “Zombie” is no longer only something heard; this edition also carries a visual record of Lagos made by a photographer who has spent years looking closely at Nigerian life.
The release date, label, edition and commercial terms have not been reported. What is clear is the connection: Alonge’s photography now helps shape how this Fela Kuti work is encountered in a new physical format.
