What changed

Nigeria’s Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund has approved an estimated ₦671 billion in Final Investment Decisions in under two years since its first approvals. The resulting portfolio spans 31 projects and 205 infrastructure assets, linked to reported total investment of ₦1.6 trillion.

Why it matters

The headline shift is from gas plans to things that can be counted: projects, infrastructure and capital committed. That gives Nigeria’s gas infrastructure push a much larger physical footprint, while also showing how public investment decisions are being used to draw in additional money.

The figures are estimates, and the available account does not say which projects are complete, where they are located, who operates them or whether they have been commissioned. The real test is therefore whether these approved assets move from investment decisions into functioning infrastructure.
