What changed
Nigeria’s registered-voter total has risen to 103 million, the Independent National Electoral Commission said on 5 October 2026.
The increase followed completion of a three-phase Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which added 10,772,421 registrants nationwide.
Why it matters
The new figure gives Nigeria a larger electoral register, but the number is not yet the same as a confirmed voting population. Registrations still need to survive verification, and the available account does not say where the new registrants are concentrated or which contest will next use the register.
That makes the next stage more important than the headline number. INEC’s handling of verification will determine how much of the 10.7 million increase translates into eligible voters when ballots are eventually cast.
