What changed
Tanzanian agencies presented investment opportunities in rice, cashew and coffee processing, renewable energy, power transmission and digital infrastructure at the Cesena stop of an EU–Tanzania roadshow in Italy on 2 October 2026.
Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited USD 8.6 billion in foreign investment. No signed agreements, committed capital, project timelines or investor identities were reported.
Why it matters
The pitch links Tanzania’s agricultural processing ambitions with the infrastructure needed to support them. Rice, cashew and coffee projects point toward adding value before export, while renewable energy, power transmission and digital infrastructure address the systems those businesses would rely on.
That makes Cesena more than a list of sectors. It is a pitch for connected investment: processing facilities need power, power needs transmission, and modern operations need digital links. The opportunity is still only at the presentation stage, so its significance will depend on whether prospective investors turn interest into identified projects, financing and construction.
