What changed

Trisha Khalid has been named the new celebrity co-host of Hello Mr Right Kenya as the dating show enters Season 5. Announced at a Nairobi press briefing on October 6, 2026, she replaces Risper Faith and joins Dr Ofweneke and relationship expert Gertrude Mungai.

Why it matters

The casting change comes with a broader version of the show’s dating pool. Season 5 includes differently abled contestants, people living with skin pigmentation challenges, and contestants aged 45 and above, including divorced, separated and widowed people. One contestant is a 65-year-old man seeking a relationship.

That gives the programme more room to discuss the parts of relationships that rarely fit neatly into television romance: marriage after major life changes, money, family expectations and household responsibilities. Planned debates will ask who pays, what financial maturity means and who cooks.

Khalid’s appointment also signals how much visibility now matters in entertainment casting. StarTimes pointed to her large social-media following and television-hosting experience, while Dr Ofweneke said producers considered personality, energy, authenticity, originality, views on love and marriage, and appearance before choosing her.

Whether the new format changes viewership or attracts a different audience remains uncertain. But the show is clearly widening both its cast and its conversation, with Khalid promising to bring more energy, and to stress out her new co-host.
