What changed
Kenya Pipeline Company named Vivo Energy Kenya its Highest Throughput Performer for the 2025/26 financial year, the company’s fourth consecutive win.
Vivo Energy, which distributes Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Kenya, moved 1.5 billion litres through the national pipeline network. That represented 15% of the fuel volume evacuated by oil marketing companies.
Why it matters
The award puts a hard number on Vivo Energy’s role in Kenya’s fuel-distribution system: 1.5 billion litres handled through shared pipeline infrastructure in one financial year. KPC says higher pipeline volumes support downstream supply chains, national economic activity and energy security.
The streak matters too. Four consecutive awards suggest a durable operating relationship between the pipeline operator and one of its largest users, even though the figures provided do not show whether Vivo Energy’s throughput rose or fell from the previous year, or how it compared with other marketers.
The customer-facing gesture was modest but tangible. During the 2026 Customer Service Week event, 100 motorists and boda boda operators received free fuel top-ups at Shell Adams Arcade along Ngong Road in Nairobi. That connected an infrastructure award to the people who ultimately depend on fuel moving reliably through the system.
