Alexandre Desplat’s new score for The Social Reckoning will be released on October 9, 2026.

Written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, the film stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong. Strong portrays Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, following Jesse Eisenberg’s performance in The Social Network.

The film centers on former Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, played by Madison, and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by White. Their reporting exposed Facebook’s internal research and decision-making, including findings about harm to teenagers and the spread of misinformation.

Desplat recorded the score with a full orchestra at the John Williams Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios. He said the script’s dialogue shaped the music, particularly the challenge of finding the right moment for the score to enter alongside the actors’ performances.

The soundtrack includes “The Lament,” featuring soprano Renée Fleming, along with tracks titled “Tomorrow’s Headlines,” “Unplug,” “Frances Goes Home,” “Psych Damage,” “Sleepless Chaos” and “72 Hours.”
