Jordan Firstman’s directorial debut “Club Kid” won the Grand Prix and the City of Deauville Audience Award at the Deauville American Film Festival, according to reporting by Variety. The film, which emerged as a breakout at Cannes earlier this year, is scheduled for release by A24 later in 2026.
The festival also awarded jury prizes to Water Thompson-Hernandez’s “If I Go Will They Miss” and the animated feature “Tangles.” “Tangles” additionally received the Critics’ Prize, while “Mouse,” from Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson, won the Revelation Prize. Sam McConnell’s “Test” took the Canal+ Prize.
Across its 10-day run in Normandy, Deauville honored Brendan Fraser with the Deauville Talent Award and Ethan Hawke with the same distinction. Faye Dunaway and Susan Sarandon received Icon Awards, while Sophie Thatcher and Patrick Schwarzenegger were named Rising Stars.
The festival’s industry section also returned for a second year, with panels on U.S.-French production ties, casting, financing and France’s tax-rebate system. The program included a discussion with producer David Atrakchi about Netflix’s “Champagne Problems,” which was filmed entirely in France.
