Colleen Hoover’s 2018 romantic thriller Verity has returned near the top of major book and audiobook charts as its film adaptation approaches its Oct. 2 theatrical release.
The hardcover is ranked No. 2 on Amazon’s bestselling-books chart, behind Rebecca Yarros’ Threshing Day. The audiobook is also No. 2 on Audible’s chart and has spent more than 100 weeks on the list.
The film stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett. It follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired to help complete the work of bestselling author Verity Crawford after Crawford is left comatose following a car accident.
Hoover self-published Verity in 2018 before Grand Central Publishing acquired it in 2021. A collector’s edition includes an exclusive new chapter and a letter from Hoover.
The chart rankings show renewed consumer interest ahead of the movie, though the available report does not establish how much of that movement is directly attributable to the adaptation.
