David Fincher Ending Netflix Deal After Six Years and Three Movies, Including ‘Cliff Booth’

Variety

David Fincher will not renew his exclusive Netflix pact when it expires next year, ending a six-year arrangement that produced three films for the streamer.

Fincher began the partnership in 2020 and made Mank and The Killer for Netflix. He is completing The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, a spinoff of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Brad Pitt.

Fincher is not signing a new overall deal with another studio, and the terms of his next projects remain unknown. Netflix could still work with him on future films.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is scheduled to open in IMAX on Nov. 25 before arriving on Netflix on Dec. 23. The release is part of Netflix’s expanding theatrical strategy, which includes reporting box-office results for selected titles.
