HBO Max has announced a Spanish drama series in development, with Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi executive producing through Suma Content. Fran Araújo and Eduard Sola are creating the project, which is inspired by unresolved events in Tor, a remote hamlet in the high Pyrenees.
The crime drama will revisit the legends and tragic events surrounding the mountain community. HBO Max describes it as an ambitious adaptation inspired by real events, while Araújo and Sola said Tor offers a world shaped by its landscape, history and proximity to two countries.
Araújo co-wrote The Anatomy of a Moment, One Year, One Night, Hierro and Rapa, and served as an executive producer on series including La Mesías, The New Years and Querer. Sola co-created Querer, wrote A House on Fire and worked on HBO Max’s Ravalear: Not for Sale.
The series is being developed in Spain, but its title, cast, production timetable, budget and release date have not been announced. It has not yet been confirmed as produced or scheduled for release.
