Hoichoi has announced a 10th-anniversary slate of more than 25 Bengali films, series and television titles, led by Srijit Mukherji’s “Maharaja Tomare Selam,” a film about Satyajit Ray’s struggle to make “Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne.”
Jeetu Kamal, Ritwik Bhowmik, Rudranil Ghosh, Sairity Banerjee, Shatakshy Nandy and Arijit Dutta star in the film, which follows Ray as he faces financial problems, industry resistance and the weight of his own reputation.
The slate also includes new mysteries for Feluda and Eken Babu. Joydeep Mukherjee directs “The Eken: Kerala-e Kurukshetra,” in which a failed secret mission draws Eken Babu into a case in Kerala. Kamaleswar Mukherjee directs “Feludar Goyendagiri: Baksho Rawhoshyo,” about a box exchanged during a train journey.
Hoichoi’s first animated series, “Shri Ramkrishna,” directed by Sanglap Bhowmick, traces the life of spiritual master Ramakrishna Paramahansa.
Other projects include Parambrata Chatterjee’s “Jononi,” Debaloy Bhattacharya’s horror drama “Bhugun,” and returning franchises including “Birangana 2,” “Kuheli 2,” “Thakumar Jhuli 2” and “Choddobeshi 2.” The series slate also features “Chaalchitro: The Ekchala Murders,” “Kumari,” “Shrimoti Not Out,” “Uttoron: Charulata” and “Detective Tarinicharan.”
The announcement expands Hoichoi’s Bengali-language offering across mystery, drama, horror, animation and television. Release dates, budgets, episode counts and territory availability were not stated.
