Shuhua Yeh is making her acting debut as Kitty in Feng-I Fiona Roan’s Happily Ever After, which is having its world premiere in Toronto, according to reporting by The Hollywood Reporter.
The 26-year-old Yeh, a member of the K-pop group I-dle, originally planned to become an actress. She grew up in Taoyuan, Taiwan, studied drama at an arts high school in Taipei and later moved to South Korea to train under Cube Entertainment. She debuted with I-dle, formerly known as (G)I-dle, in 2018.
In Roan’s family drama, Yeh plays Kitty, the younger of two sisters alongside Xuan Chen’s Claire. The arrival of a stray cat brings long-standing tensions to the surface as the film examines the expectations families place on young people.
Yeh told The Hollywood Reporter that Kitty’s personality differed from her own, which gave her more room to experiment. She also drew on her experience as the middle child of three sisters, saying the production helped her see her family relationships from new perspectives.
The role marks a notable crossover for a performer whose international profile was built through music. Yeh said the transition felt familiar because K-pop album concepts and music videos had already allowed her to work with story and performance. For global entertainment audiences, Happily Ever After offers an early look at how an established pop career can open into film while remaining grounded in a personal connection to the material.
