Pro-Trump Ads Funded With Taxpayer Dollars Air on CNN and MS NOW; White House Has Spent $2.9 Million on the TV Spots to Date

The White House has spent at least $2.87 million on three pro-Trump television advertisements funded with taxpayer dollars, including 38 placements on MS NOW and 10 on CNN, according to AdImpact data cited in the report.

The ads have also aired on Fox News, Newsmax, CBS, NBC and ABC. Each ends with the disclaimer, “Paid for by the U.S. Government.”

The spots promote President Donald Trump’s agenda while criticizing “communism, socialism and Marxism,” the “fake news media,” “globalists” and “the deep state.” One features Trump declaring that “America will never be a communist country.”

The White House describes the commercials as patriotic public-service announcements rather than campaign ads, arguing that Trump is not on the ballot and that the spots contain no call to action.

The advertising has drawn criticism from lawmakers in both parties ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections. Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, said one ad may violate the Hatch Act and could represent the political use of government property. Whether the ads violate federal law remains contested.

CNN declined to comment. MS NOW spokesperson Richard Hudock said the advertisement passed the network’s established sales review process, adding that accepting paid advertising does not constitute an endorsement or influence its journalism.
