What changed
England will host the 2031 Netball World Cup at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, World Netball and England Netball announced. It will be England’s fourth time staging the tournament, after Eastbourne in 1963, Birmingham in 1995 and Liverpool in 2019.
Why it matters
Manchester gets a major international tournament, and netball gets a large indoor stage built for a crowd. Co-op Live hosted the 2026 Netball Super League Grand Final in front of more than 8,000 fans, giving organisers a recent indication of the venue’s pull.
The timing adds another layer. Netball could feature at the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, although that remains unconfirmed. If it does, England’s 2031 World Cup would arrive one year before the sport’s possible Olympic return, giving the tournament extra weight as players chase a place in the Roses squad.
England has never won the World Cup. The Roses reached their first final in 2023 but lost 61-45 to Australia, the 12-time champions. Manchester will now host the next home chapter, with the opportunity to turn a familiar near-miss into a bigger national occasion.
