What changed

All 14 Super League clubs will remain in the competition for 2027, with Wakefield Trinity topping the annual IMG-based gradings for the first time.

Wakefield matched Hull KR’s 2025 score of 17.85 after rising from eighth last year. London Broncos finished 16th despite winning the Championship Grand Final, the 1895 Cup and the regular-season title.

Why it matters

The rankings measure more than results. They combine fan experience, finance, stadium, community work and on-field performance. That gives Wakefield’s rise a broader meaning: their Grand Final win arrived alongside progress away from the pitch.

It also exposes the awkward edge of the system. London lost only one match and won three trophies, yet remains outside Super League. Their score fell from 11.65 to 9.77, leaving them behind Barrow Raiders despite their dominant season.

That could still become a live promotion fight. The National Rugby League is in advanced talks to invest in the competition, and any completed deal may involve London entering the top flight in 2027. Whether that deal happens, and whether it includes that condition, remains unresolved.
