What changed
Apple and The King’s Trust have launched Creative Labs, an immersive education programme for young people seeking careers in the creative industries.
The first cohort, comprising up to 20 people aged 18 to 30, began music and creative workshops this week at Apple Music Hall in London. More sessions and cohorts are planned over the next year, using Apple technology and access to Apple experts.
Why it matters
The programme turns a broad promise about “supporting young creatives” into a small, concrete test: can hands-on training, equipment and mentorship help people take their next step toward work?
That matters because the partnership is not starting from zero. The King’s Trust says it has supported 1.3 million young people since 1976, while its work with Apple since 2019 has included coding, STEAM education and employability programmes.
The first cohort is limited, and the future number of participants, curriculum outcomes and employment results are not yet specified. The useful measure will be whether the workshops produce skills and opportunities that extend beyond the sessions themselves.
