What changed

Submittable appointed Pratyush Rai as chief technology officer on October 12, 2026. Rai will lead engineering, infrastructure and product technology as the grants and corporate social responsibility software company expands its use of AI.

Why it matters

This puts one executive across the systems that make Submittable work and the AI layer it wants to add. The practical test will be whether AI reduces the friction of applying for, administering and reviewing grants without weakening the human judgment those decisions require.

Rai brings more than 14 years of technology leadership experience. At Great Gray Trust Company, he led technology, data, AI, DevOps and information security. At Auction Technology Group, he integrated eight marketplaces, consolidated three platforms and launched embedded payments that surpassed $2 billion in processed volume.

That background suggests Submittable is hiring for scale, not simply publicity around AI. Rai has worked on modernization, integration and operational efficiency, all useful when a platform serves philanthropic funders, governments and corporations with high-stakes programs.

The appointment also comes with a deliberately limited promise. Submittable has not disclosed an implementation timetable, investment amount, product roadmap or performance targets. For now, the clearest signal is Rai’s stated principle: AI should amplify human judgment and impact, not replace it.
