Google teases Fitbit Edge launch next week

The Verge

What changed

Google has teased what appears to be a new Fitbit fitness tracker, reportedly called the Fitbit Edge. The company posted a side-profile image on X with the caption, “Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26.”

That points to an announcement or launch event on October 12, 2026. Whether that date means unveiling, availability or something else remains unclear.

Why it matters

For now, the teaser tells us almost nothing about the product itself. There are no confirmed specifications, price, markets or release timing.

The useful signal is narrower: Google is putting Fitbit back in the spotlight with a named-looking device and a fixed date. The side view may hint at the hardware’s shape, but it cannot tell us how the tracker differs from existing Fitbit products.

The October 12 event should settle the basics: whether “Fitbit Edge” is the final name, what the device can do and when people can actually buy it. Until then, “Edge” is a promise in a caption, not yet a product brief.
