What changed
Microsoft will let Microsoft 365 Family and Premium subscribers share Copilot and other AI usage benefits with up to five additional people on their plan.
The change extends the sharing already available for Office apps and OneDrive storage. Previously, Microsoft’s AI features were limited to the primary account holder, despite being bundled into Family and Personal subscriptions last year.
Why it matters
This turns Microsoft’s AI features from a single-user perk into a household-level benefit. One subscription can now give several people access to Copilot while keeping the existing Office and OneDrive arrangement intact.
That matters because the value of an AI add-on depends heavily on who can actually use it. Microsoft is making the benefit easier to share, but the practical value remains unclear until it publishes the launch date, usage limits and eligibility rules.
