What changed
MENA startups disclosed $1.697663 billion in funding during September 2026, with Saudi Arabia leading the market. The total was driven by a small number of large AI and fintech rounds, including Positron AI, barq, Tabby, BRKZ and Corridor, while investment also reached logistics, edtech, proptech, biotech, gaming and construction technology.
Why it matters
The headline number is impressive, but its shape matters more. A limited group of mega-rounds supplied most of the capital, so the market is attracting serious money without distributing it evenly across startups.
Saudi fintech raised more than half a billion dollars during the month. That gives Riyadh the clearest centre of gravity in the regional funding picture, while the spread across AI, logistics, construction and other sectors suggests investors are backing tools that digitise traditional industries, not only consumer-facing apps.
The market was not limited to late-stage companies. Funding ranged from pre-seed to Series C, showing that capital was still moving through several points in the startup lifecycle. Egypt’s deals illustrate that breadth: Zeal raised $10 million, 3C Coding School closed a $3 million seed round, and Bekia secured $765,000 for waste-collection digitisation.
The UAE recorded $16.5 million across two deals. Saudi Arabia’s total may ultimately be higher because several rounds did not disclose their values. The practical takeaway is clear: September showed strong regional appetite, but the strongest signal is concentrated conviction around AI, fintech and digital infrastructure.
