What changed
Vertiv and Cybastion are exploring data-centre, AI-infrastructure and digital-technology projects across Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Chad and Gabon.
No construction projects or investment figures have been confirmed. The companies have also not disclosed how equipment would be sourced, how contractors would be chosen or how procurement would work.
Why it matters
The opportunity is real only if this moves beyond a market-development plan. Data centres need power systems, cooling, connectivity and continuing maintenance, creating possible work for electrical contractors, equipment suppliers and specialist service firms in the six countries.
The key question is whether funded projects emerge. Until Vertiv and Cybastion publish locations, budgets, technical requirements and contracting arrangements, local businesses cannot tell whether this means major new work or simply an early partnership announcement.
Smaller suppliers may have to enter through subcontracting or established contractors if projects are eventually approved. For now, the timing, scale and technical scope remain unclear.
